Group Preservation
Names, colours, and tab order are stored with the group rather than flattened away.
A tab group is a layout, not a save. Close the window and, by default, the grouping goes with it. Zen Tabz saves your groups, names and colours included, and restores them in one click whenever you come back.
Chrome tab groups are a genuinely good way to tame an open window: one colour per project, click to collapse the noise. The catch is what they are tied to. A group exists inside the open window. With Chrome’s default startup setting, closing that window drops the tabs and the grouping with them. If you enable Continue where you left off, Chrome restores the previous session’s groups on a clean shutdown, but only the most recent session, and a crash or forced quit can break the restore.
When you save a session with Zen Tabz, each tab group is stored as a group, with its name, colour, and tab order intact. Restoring the collection recreates the groups rather than flattening them into a list of links. That is the difference between bookmarking all your tabs and actually keeping the arrangement you built.
Because the groups are saved by name in a collection, returning to a project is one action, whether that is tomorrow morning or next month. If your browser has already closed and the groups are gone, start with the recovery steps in our guide to restoring tabs in Chrome, then save the next set so it does not happen again.
